The Ekiyat (Fairy tale) Tatar State Puppet Theater was founded in 1934 and is one of the leading puppet theaters in the Russian Federation. In 2012, a new building opened in the center of Kazan. The theater was built in the form of a fairytale castle with decorative details, and the stone turrets and pillars have become one of the city's remarkable sights. It has a large hall with 250 seats and a small hall with 100 seats. In the theater’s repertoire post you will find historical themes, contemporary themes, and more than 50 performances derived from all over the world. Different puppet systems, from classic to modern ones, are used in the performances. The Ekiyat Tatar State Puppet Theater is a frequent participant in numerous festivals in our country and abroad.
