The Tatar State Academic Theater named after G. Kamal is located in the center of Kazan in the historic district of Staro Tatarskaya Sloboda. The theater building resembles a sailboat sailing down Lake Kaban. It has two auditoriums, a large (744 seats) one and a small (128 seats) one. Each seat is radio-equipped for simultaneous translation into three languages.
The Small Hall, built similar to an amphitheater, is designed for pilot performances. The Date of the theater’s birth is December 22, 1906, when the first public performance in the Tatar language was played in Kazan. Now the theater has become one of the best national theaters in Russia, succeeding not only within Russia and Turkic-speaking countries, but also within Germany and Finland.
