The Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after Maxim Gorky is one of the most beloved places for rest and relaxation in Kazan, where you can sit on benches, ride a bicycle or have a picnic on the green lawns. For those more active, a sports ground has been built in the new park where you can enjoy a game of mini-football or workout in the outdoor gym. A popular highlight of the renovated park is an interactive fountain, the streams of which beat directly from the ground. Children organize competitions here: who will run from one end of the fountain to the other, without getting wet. The fountain is on all day throughout summer, and in the evening, the illuminated streams of water "dance" to the music.
Starting back in the second half of the 18th century, here, on the former outskirts of the city, wealthy Kazan locals began to build their country houses. Back then, this place was called "Russian Switzerland". In front of the park, there is a memorial zone featuring the eternal flame and the tomb of the unknown soldier.
