Saydashev State Big Concert Hall
The State Big Concert Hall named in honour of Salikh Saydashev is located in the centre of the city - on Ploschad Svobody ("Freedom Square" in Russian). Various concerts are held here featuring the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan’s chamber orchestra La Primavera, opera stars, famous pianists, and participants of the international "White Lilac" and "Concordia" music festivals.
Until the mid-1990s, the building housed the Kazan Conservatory. In 1996, its reconstruction was completed: the facade was reconstructed, and a magnificent interior with excellent acoustics was created. The concert hall has a large organ made by the the world famous Flentrop company. According to foreign musicians and guests, the instrument in the Great Concert Hall is one of the best in Europe.
