The House-Museum of Ivan Shishkin
The memorial house of famous Russian artist Ivan Shishkin is located in Yelabuga on the banks of Toima River. The preserved interior of merchant life of the 19th century is a real treasure trove of works of fine art. Visitors of the museum can feel the spirit of that time in which the painter lived and worked. Take a walk through the rooms, take a look inside the study of the artists’s father, visit the workshop and even Shishkin’s bedroom. The picture gallery located in two rooms is home to the original picturesque and graphic works of the artist.
The hospitable staff of the museum conduct tours dressed as the mother of the artist: Daria Romanovna. After a visit to the museum, we recommend taking a look at the nearby monument erected in memory of the artist and the famous Shishkinsky ponds, restored in 2005.
