State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan
The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the main cultural highlights of Kazan. It contains over 26,000 exhibits of Old Russian, Russian, Tatar and Western-European art. The museum is located in a mansion which used to be the former residence of the commander of the Kazan Military District - General Sandetsky. Besides walking through the exhibition halls to marvel at the works of Durer, Repin, Shishkin and Feshin, in summer you can also come listen to music in the square adjacent to the museum. Every year the international festival "Jazz in the Sandetsky Manor" is held here with the participation of famous Russian and foreign musicians.
