The Hazine Gallery is part of the exhibition grounds of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. Here you will find a collection of Tatar paintings, drawings, sculptures and arts and crafts of local specialists. The main treasures of the gallery are paintings by Nicolai Fechin and Pavel Benkov, as well as a large collection of Kazan avant-garde artists of the 1910s-1930s. Every year, the Hazine Gallery hosts over 20 exhibitions, usually featuring thematic or personal exhibitions of Russian and Tatarstan artists.
The gallery building was built in 1836 based on the project by architect Peter Pyatnitsky. A long time ago, this building housed one of the first schools of military cantonists of the Russian Empire, and later an infantry cadet school.
