Gabdulla Tukay Literary Museum
To mark the occasion of the 100th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay, the city unveiled the Literary Museum named after the Tatar poet in a two-story mansion of the late 19th century. It was here, in the Old Tatar Quarter area, where the young Tukay worked for a long time. The museum’s collection exhibits contain preserved lifetime editions of books by the poet, photographs, personal items, documents of his followers, as well as his death mask.
Since its opening in 1986, the museum has transformed and become not only cultural-historical, but also technological. The museum has interactive zones, a children's room, where young visitors are greeted by heroes of Tukay's fairy tales, and even robotic guides mill around who can share stories about the writer's work in English, Russian and Tatar. Various events are also regularly hosted on the museum premises.
