Museum of Nikolai Lobachevsky

The museum is located inside one of the city's many monuments - the actual building of which dates back to the 18th century. The University Rector, great Russian mathematician, and creator of non-Euclidean geometry, Nikolai Lobachevsky, once inhabited its halls. The museum consists of four exhibit rooms dedicated to Lobachevsky's student years and to non-Euclidean geometry. Inside the museum, visitors will find films being streamed about the role of Lobachevsky's work in geometry in sciences like physics and cosmology and regular lectures, master classes and lessons all about the fascinating and entertaining side of mathematics. One of the halls is styled as a scientist's living room and its main exhibit is a library with a collection of books, which took a century to put together by the main geometers of Kazan University. The museum also organizes museum classes on topics such as: “Mathematics - the queen of science”, “Theory of time”, “Enchanted figures”, “3D world”, “Geometry of the Eastern wise men”, “Lobachevsky's world” and “The art of counting”.
