Eversmann Zoology Museum of Kazan State University
The Zoological Museum is one of the largest natural science museums in Russia, whose history began with orders to establish a “Natural Office” in 1804. Today, the museum has eight halls which are home to exhibits of 23 types of animals, wild quagga zebra, the Venus' flower basket sponge, shells of all sorts of shapes, a stuffed bison donated to the museum by the last Emperor of Russia, a collection of tropical birds and much more. And for the younger visitors, the museum has developed children's programs about the animal kingdom, where they can study tiny organisms under a microscope, find out what skulls of different living creatures look like and hear and recognize the sounds of various birds.
