Residence of Kysh Babay and Kar Kyzy
In the dense spruce-tree forest in the Yana Kyrlai village of the Arsky district of Tatarstan there is a tower, where Kysh Babay and Kar Kyzy live - the named relatives of the Russian Father Frost (similar to Santa Clause) and Snow Maiden (Father Frost’s granddaughter). Anyone can enter the residence of the Tatar Father Frost - the only requirement is to sincerely believe in the fairy tale of his being. The helpers of Kysh Babay and Kar Kyzy – Batyr, Shurale, Shaitan and Zukhra check guests' documents, tell riddles and deliver them to the grandfather's residence. By the way, all the forest "customs officers" are fairy tale characters of infamous Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay. Inside the hut, Kysh Babay signs a festive letter-scroll for each guest with a special name stamp, and then together with Kar Kyzy presents gifts. Adults and children are invited to ride on the ice hills, ride horseback, visit the souvenir shop "Aga-Bazaar", skate on the ice rink or relax in the Shushma hotel. The hotel is worth a visit even if it’s just to go into the restaurant, where the cook treats guests with popular dishes of Tatar cuisine.
